INTRODUCING OUR ARTISTS
Sue Hamlet is a long term resident of Warwick. Her career has encompassed graphic design, interior design, community development, counselling, mentoring, community education and workshop facilitation. Starting in 2020, Sue now balances her time between creating optimistic and uplifting works on canvas and facilitating artistic/therapeutic workshops. Canvasses feature bold colours and a distinctive illustrative style with patterned overlays and motifs, with subjects ranging from landscapes to symbolic portraits. Her works evoke hope, curiosity and wonder about the inner and outer world. Sue believes that art has an important role in connecting people to themselves and to each other.
What you can do with Sue at the studio
Sue will paint on site in the Studio at Warwick Art Gallery. Her unique point of difference is the therapeutic application in her illustrative style. She hopes to help visitors to discover the value of art for self-care and the power of visualisation for increased wellbeing. Sue is a generous communicator with a background in counselling keen to create a positive experience for visitors while she works.
Connected Under Country Stars Workshop
Create your very own "Connected Under Country Skies" mixed media artwork in this relaxing short workshop. No prior artistic experience is needed. Starting with beautiful navy blue art paper, you can choose from a range of media including Posca paint pens, watercolour pencils, acrylic paint and metallic pencils to paint/illustrate a night time scene under a starry sky. Your stunning artwork is based on Sue's artwork "Where Stars Outshine the City Lights" (see at ). Your unframed finished piece is A3 in size, suitable for an off the shelf A3 or A2 frame or of course you can have it custom framed to suit your own decor. While the basic concept is stars, hills, houses and trees, participants can either imitate Sue's samples or follow their own imagination. Variations include constellation selection, colour ranges, and placement of houses, trees, hills, etc. You will surprise yourself with how easy it is to create a stunning piece that can remind you of the value of connection under vast and starry skies.
