About Catherine
From an early age Catherine had a strong interest in fashion design and garment assembly. She completed studies in these areas at Mount Gravatt TAFE. She developed her drawing skills at Brisbane Institute of Art. In 2015 she completed university study in Art Therapy to Masters level. In recent years her art practice has had a focus on printmaking, natural dyeing practices (using eucalyptus leaf print and indigo dyes)and upcycling or reconstructing garments. She is experienced in presenting workshops, facilitating programs in expressive arts and more recently workshops in printmaking, upcycling textiles, and natural dyeing practices. She has exhibited her art works in group exhibitions, in Boonah, Warwick, and Melbourne and has coordinated several art exhibitions.
What you can do with Catherine at the Yangan School of Arts Hall?
See an exhibition of upcycled and reconstructed garments and textiles in the Yangan School of Arts Hall. These will include the artist's work and those of students and fellow Yangan artists. There will be textile art works for sale.
Indigo Shibori Dyeing Workshops
Learn how to make an indigo vat and several Shibori techniques and variations of these. Cost $75 for one 3-hour workshop
5 November & 6 November 1pm – 4 pm

an apron and wear non-precious clothing & shoes

an item you want to dye (t shirt or piece of cotton or linen fabric no more than one metre

Plastic bags to take home anything wet

Tea & coffee provided and cotton fabric to experiment with in the indigo vat

Yangan is a small, picturesque township, that sits on Swan Creek at the base of the Swanfells Valley, surrounded by mountains. The Yangan School of Arts is Heritage listed. There is ample parking, and a General Store opposite the venue.
